How to Clean Your House Prior to Moving In

Start with your kitchen. Clean the counters, oven, fridge, and floors to ensure a fresh cooking area. The home owners before you may have skipped the inside of the oven or fridge when they were moving out. Also clean out the kitchen cupboards, you might find some treasures that were left behind by the previous owners. Next, clean the sink. The sink should be sprayed and soaked for a half hour or so. Sink odours can be eliminated by mixing baking soda and water together and pouring it down the drain.

Some new homeowners wish to clean or paint the walls prior to moving in. This is much easier when the house is empty! If you have the chance, do these tasks before you have to navigate around furniture and belongings.

Finally clean the floors. If your new home has carpet, hire a professional carpet cleaning service to make sure the job is done right. For wood floors, sweep the floors and clean beneath all appliances. If you need to clean the surface of wood floors use a wood soap to get rid of dirt. Your floors will be brightly shining and you’ll be happy you did it!

There is so much to do the day of moving, and once you are moved in you will be focused on unpacking. Make sure you find time to clean your new home prior to the big move in day! Take advantage of an empty house and make your new home shine brightly. You will be glad you did!
