The vinegar and warm water solution we have mentioned in other blogs is a nearly all-purpose cleaner that is versatile and gentle enough to handle most tasks around the house. However, be warned that you should never use vinegar on marble floors. Marble is very porous and dissolves easily when it comes in contact with vinegar. You will ruin the finish and have permanent scratches and etches in the marble. Instead, use pH neutral cleaners. These are mild and gentle, and will not damage the tile.

How to Care for and Clean Marble Surfaces

• Make sure to promptly clean up all spills and messes on your marble tiles. Letting a spill sit could cause damage to the marble.
• Do not place glasses directly on to the marble. Try to use coasters at all time.
• Follow all the care instructions provided by the marble manufacturer. Some marble tiles are different from others, and should be treated differently.
• Use a terry cloth that case been dampened with warm water to clean your marble tiles. Make sure your marble is thoroughly dried before finish, lest some moisture get into the marble itself. You can use paper towels if the terry cloth in not drying enough.
• If a more deep cleaning method is needed, make sure to only purchase a high quality marble specific cleaning product. Follow all directions on the bottle precisely to ensure no damage is done.     
• Use a commercial grade polish on your marble. This will help protect your marble and keep it looking new for years to come.
• Extensive cleaning is not necessary on marble. In fact, using chemical based cleaners too often could damage your marble. Keep up with cleaning spills and clean with a mild solution once every few months for optimal results.
