Keep a shoe rack and entry mat so you can remove your shoes as soon as you walk in the door.

For your cleaning solution you can simply mix one cup of vinegar with one gallon of water. Use a clean mop and wring it out until it’s damp. Mop the floor in the same direction of the boards. Let your floors air dry and enjoy a clean living space!
