Do you have an emergency kit at home?

If a disaster or catastrophe struck tomorrow morning, would you be ready to face it? It is recommended to have an emergency kit on hand to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours, in case you are without electricity or clean water.

You may already have many of these items at home, but would you be able to find them quickly in the dark?

The “72 Hours…Is Your Family Prepared?” campaign by Public Safety Canada encourages Canadians to prepare to be self-sufficient for the first 72 hours following a disaster, so that first responders can assist those who need it most.

What to put in your emergency kit?

The important thing is to organize your supplies so you can find them quickly. Would you be able to?

Make sure your kit is easy to carry and that all household members know where it is located.

It is your responsibility to start gathering basic items and think about what your family will need for at least 72 hours in case of an emergency.

Checklist for a basic emergency kit:

Consider adding the following items to your kit, as needed:

Spring Cleaning: Decluttering and Taking Inventory of Your Belongings

This year, spring has arrived at our doorstep a little earlier than usual. With spring comes spring cleaning! It’s the perfect time to clean all the rooms in the house, but also to take the time to sort through what is still useful and what we could part with. The goal is not to live with as few items as possible, but to ensure that those you own contribute positively to your life. You can sell some items or even give them away on Buy Nothing groups or to charity organizations.

We all tend to accumulate far too many things over the years. Conducting an annual sorting is a good way to declutter your property.!

Inventory of Your Belongings

This year, add a step to your spring cleaning: take inventory of your belongings. Why? In the event of a disaster, your insurance company will ask you to estimate the overall value of all your belongings in order to adequately compensate you. It is therefore easier to assess the value of your belongings and make a complete list of them when they are in front of you.

Here are the steps to follow to ensure nothing is forgotten:

Although we don’t wish for any disasters to occur, it’s always better to be prepared to face them! Having an inventory of your belongings on hand will save you from many headaches in the event of a disaster!

Emergency Preparedness Week

This is a national awareness initiative that has been taking place every year since 1996, encouraging Canadians to take three simple steps to better prepare themselves to face various types of emergencies, namely:

In recent years, we have not been spared by natural disasters and there is a chance that they will recur in the years to come! Be proactive and be prepared! You are the first ones responsible for your safety!

In case of disaster, don’t panic, there’s Steamatic! Our teams of professionals will quickly provide assistance to help you get your life back on track as soon as possible.

With Steamatic Canada, women succeed in the construction industry

Gatineau, March 8, 2024 – In honour of International Women’s Day, Steamatic Canada President Nancy Raymond wishes to reiterate that women have their place in the construction industry.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.” It’s a reminder that gender equality is one of the most effective ways of building healthier, more inclusive communities.

With some forty franchises across the country, Steamatic Canada hires hundreds of women, many of whom hold leadership positions within franchises or are in decision-making roles. Over the past five years, Steamatic’s recruitment of female employees has increased by more than 50%. Some are administrative professionals, but many are project managers, technicians and workers.

“At Steamatic, we take pride in having women who engage directly with our clients, not only in handling and managing cases but also in leading franchise operations. Our work environment is safe and allows for incredible development,” said Ms. Raymond, emphasizing that Steamatic Canada is driven by the desire to increase the number of women in its workforce in the coming years, while ensuring their retention and professional development.

Last February, Ms. Raymond took part in the Sommet Atypique, organized by Option Femmes, which aims to highlight non-traditional professions for women by offering a unique, hands-on experience. Ms. Raymond was invited to take part in a panel discussion on the theme of “Leadership au féminin”.
