Business transfer: Menuiserie Bertin becomes Steamatic Baie-Comeau
Gatineau, February 7, 2025 -It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the opening of our new Steamatic franchise in Baie-Comeau. Formerly known as Menuiserie Bertin, a well-established company successfully managed by Mr. Bertin Potvin for over 35 years, this local institution is now entering a promising new chapter of growth.
Mr. Potvin has chosen to entrust strategic succession to Mr. Éric Thibeault, a seasoned entrepreneur with extensive experience in administration and project management, particularly in the post-disaster industry. His ambition and vision led him to join a network aligned with his values and development objectives.

Strategic investments for a prosperous future
The new owner has already launched several strategic initiatives to support the company’s growth. These include the expansion of the vehicle fleet, the acquisition of new specialized equipment, and the purchase of an additional building adjacent to the company’s existing premises. These investments will enable the franchise to respond even more effectively to the needs of our insurance partners, loss adjusters and claimants.
At the same time, Éric Thibeault continues to work with Tommy Potvin, son of Bertin Potvin, on the demolition and construction side of the business. Tommy has been with the company since a very young age. The new owner has also recruited Daniel Bélanger for cleaning and dewatering. Mr. Bélanger has been working in the post-disaster field for over twenty years in the region, and was himself the owner of a company in this field. A new estimator, Mr. Dany Gagné, has also been recruited to the team. He has extensive experience in the industry. This strengthening of the teams will ensure a smooth transition, the preservation of valuable know-how with all Menuiserie Bertin personnel remaining in place, and continuity of service while respecting the standards of excellence that characterize Steamatic.
In addition, Mr. Bertin Potvin will continue his involvement over the coming months to ensure a successful transition and complete transfer of knowledge.
A smooth transition for a bright future
The transaction will be finalized by the end of February or early March 2025. This transition period will enable the new manager to fully immerse himself in the Steamatic culture, take the necessary training and integrate our network’s standards of excellence.
