3 All-Natural Mold and Mildew Fighters

If you have very minor mold problems, like those tiny traces commonly found near poorly-sealed windows, then you may be able to tackle the job yourself. If this is the case, then you will want to do so in a way that is safe, effective, and environmentally friendly. Read on to learn about 3 all-natural mold and mildew fighters you may have lying around the home.

  • Tea tree oil – Make a spray by combining two cups of water with two teaspoons of tea tree oil in a standard spray bottle. Shake well, and spray this solution anywhere that you have identified traces of mold and mildew. Allow this pungent mix to sit and work before wiping away.

  • Distilled vinegar – Vinegar kills over 80% of any mold it comes into contact with, and will deter new spores from growing when used as a regular cleaning solution. You can mix your vinegar cleaner with some lemon oil if you want to eliminate the smell.

  • Baking soda – The ultimate all-purpose item, baking soda is a great choice if you need a mild disinfectant. Mix with water in a spray bottle with enough water to avoid a paste-like consistency, then apply where needed.

We are very happy with the repairs and with Avalon Steamatic. Your team is fantastic! From the initial survey and analysis of the damage by Dave, to Kevin’s team with their excellent carpentry and cabinet making skills, to the excellent work by the cleaning staff, and to your readily accessible self, keeping us in the loop on everything – we were in good hands, and we thank you. I’m pretty sure this was our second time around (second water damage) claim that your company looked after, and it was reassuring to have such a professional company restore our property. We would certainly recommend Avalon Steamatic for anyone going through a similar experience.
